I saw the Cadillac in question at a Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale, 5-6 years ago or so.
As far as I am conserned it is not only a "hoax" Cadillac, the "restoration" was very crude, it was a very poor quality amatur restoration.
Both the body work, interior, paint etc are done to a very low standard. To make it into a good car it would have to be treated to a total restoration and since it probably is a made up car it would never be worth the cost of a real restoration.

Lars

Just wanted to let you know I was at the Imperial Palace collection yesterday and this car is still there but all the information about it has changed. They no longer mention your name or most of what it had previously said. It now says that the car was restored in 2005 but they don't know where.

Hi Lars

Thanks for setting the record straight, Have you tried to contact the people at the Imperial Palace casino and have them take down this information. I read it with my own two eyes and if I didn't see it for myself I would have never thought the sign was in fact wrong. I bet if I look I have a picture of the actual sign. I also have a dedicated page to this car that I will delete the pages. Here is the page where you will see a sign with your name on it. http://www.cadillaccountryclub.com/1959-cadillac-special.htm

I checked out your site and it is a real eye opener. I was standing right in front of this car and read the sign myself. The info you provided is very interesting. It seems this car has made the rounds.

Presenting this car on the home page, you said: "The following statement was made by the former owner, Lars Schenk and cannot be documented or proven..." Please note that Lars Schenk never owned this car; Lars is a German enthusiast who, at one time, moderated a forum on the Internet relating to Cadillacs. That car was offered to a friend of mine in Australia; the vendor wanted $1,000,000 !!!

You can see an updated picture page of this Cadillac. I received over 100 comments in emails about this car. Some people were really annoyed that I called this a 1959. I can only report what the sign tells me :)
